Tyler, Texas – NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Services at University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler has earned a Three-Year Accreditation for its Brain Injury Rehabilitation Programs serving adults and adolescents. The accreditation was awarded by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF is an international accrediting organization committed to promoting the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of rehabilitation services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Following a comprehensive review of NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Services' clinical and administrative practices, CARF found the organization to have many strengths and noted that NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Services "has dedicated staff members committed to providing the best care to the person served." Staff members are experienced in brain injury, and several have specialty certifications." CARF also noted that "the program offers a unique feature in regard to meeting healthcare needs of persons served. The fourteen-bed residential unit is located in a hospital environment, allowing for direct and immediate medical attention available on site." NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Services was awarded the highest level of accreditation.

NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Services is licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to operate exclusively as a specialized brain injury treatment facility. The facility provides a broad range of restorative therapies designed to meet the special needs of persons recovering from a brain injury. The clinical team consists of professionals from the following fields: nursing, speech-language pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, neuropsychology, counseling, and case management. The facility is designed to provide a home-like environment while individuals receive care and individualized therapy in a highly structure setting, which is necessary for brain injury recovery. Therapeutic interventions offer frequent opportunities for generalization of skills by accessing the surrounding community for functional living skills acquisition necessary for return to home and community. The continuum of care provided by NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Services is the most comprehensive in the East Texas region.

"Our clinical and administrative team worked diligently at achieving CARF accreditation. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality of services to persons recovering from brain injuries. CARF accreditation establishes the foundation for our ongoing commitment to excellence in meeting the needs of our clients, their families, and our other stakeholders," said Jeff Stanford, MA, Program Director.

NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Services is located on the University of Texas Health Science Center - Tyler campus at 11937 US Highway 271, Tyler, Texas 75708. In addition to the 14-bed treatment unit, services are provided in community apartment and home settings in the area to provide for transitional and supported living phases of care. The facilities are part of NeuroRestorative™ Specialty Centers, an Arkansas-based regional healthcare firm that owns and manages brain injury treatment facilities in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports about 1.5 million U.S. residents sustain traumatic brain injuries each year. These injuries range from mild to severe.
