Overview
Oklahoma NeuroSpecialty offers a specialized treatment program
providing therapeutic services for individuals who have suffered
neurological and behavioral impairments due to acquired brain
injury secondary to trauma, tumor, stroke, anoxia, degenerative
or infectious disorders. We seek to progress clients through a
treatment plan designed to achieve specific, individualized
functional skills necessary for a successful outcome.
Our Facility
Oklahoma NeuroSpecialty offers a highly structured, home-like
inpatient environment. We provide progressive levels of
supervision and structure to eventually approximate the individual's
optimal discharge setting while allowing clinical teams to
observe and prescribe necessary treatment, adaptive equipment,
and discharge setting conditions necessary for a safe return to
home and community. The facility is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
a vibrant community offering a variety of opportunities for our
clinical team to utilize during treatment to ensure generalization
of skills in the community.
Oklahoma NeuroSpecialty is licensed by the Oklahoma Department of
Health (ODH) as a general hospital for the provision of specialized
post-acute brain injury treatment services.
Our Teams
Comprehensive, individualized services from an interdisciplinary
team of licensed professionals assist patients along a course to
greater independence. The clinical team may include professionals
from the disciplines of: physical medicine and rehabilitation,
internal medicine, nursing, behavior analysis, neuropsychology,
psychology, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy,
physical therapy, social work, counseling, education, and case
management. Our clinical teams use an individualized approach to
meet the specific needs of each client. This team approach also
serves clients with severe skill deficits and potentially dangerous
maladaptive behaviors who may require intense behavioral programming.
Our Services
Comprehensive Post-Acute Rehabilitation Services. Clinicians from
a broad range of disciplines provide services in a coordinated
manner to ensure outcome-focused, functional treatment goals.
Clinicians design a treatment plan that addresses functional skills,
behavioral/psychosocial factors, communication and physical
functioning.
Behavior Stabilization Services. Patients who have significant
behavioral deficits resulting from a neurological impairment
receive assessment and treatment which focuses on developing
adaptive patterns, as opposed to simply managing the behavior
problem. All behavior programs are integrated with the other
treatment disciplines providing service (e.g. speech-language
pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc.) to ensure
maximum improvement in all areas.
Specialized Community Re-entry Services. For patients demonstrating
higher-level functional skills and who are ready to begin their
transition back to the community, our treatment services focus on
higher-level community re-entry and social skills as well as
vocational skills. A variety of environments are used to assist
the patient in generalizing and acquiring skills. Vocational
services may include comprehensive vocational evaluations, career
counseling and adjustment to injury, training to develop appropriate
work habits and job readiness skills, and both on-site and
community-based situational assessments.
Specialized Outpatient Therapeutic Services. Provided for
individuals who are able to live at home but need comprehensive,
targeted therapies on a daily or weekly basis to enhance or
reinforce abilities in particular functional areas.
Various diagnostic/evaluation services are also available
including behavioral, neuropsychological, vocational and driving
assessments.
